More About Me
My therapy style is warm and direct. I pay attention to both what's going on in your present and what happened in your past. We will engage in open exploration as well as focusing on specific skills and answers to address your questions.
I have provided therapeutic services in multiple venues for over a decade and counting, including community mental health (serving low income and unhoused clients) and college counseling (at Mills College and the University of Pacific). I graduated from The Wright Institute in Berkeley with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
My previous careers in academia and the arts continue to inform my approach to therapy. In over a decade spent at Stanford University, I taught for a dozen different programs and departments, from Classics to the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity. I continue to value variety, working with families and couples (and throuples, etc.) as well as individuals.
As a theater practitioner, I always favored ensemble work, and I remain a big believer in collaboration. I bring my experience and expertise to the therapy space, but so do my clients—they have the most experience and expertise regarding their own lives.
More About My Clients
One of the privileges of being a therapist has been the honor of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds. My dedication to affirming diverse identities stems in part from my own family's immigration history, and I have extensive experience working with first- and second-generation immigrants. As a queer clinician, I often work with people from the LGBTQ+ community, and currently over a third of my clients identify as trans. In terms of age range, I work with adults well into their 80s, and adolescents as young as 12.
My time teaching has included working at a language institute in Europe, a boarding school in New England, multiple community colleges in California, and at a private research university. This has led me to work frequently with students and teachers, from middle schoolers to retired college professors. I have a background in the arts and literature which helps me work well with creative types, from professionals to hobbyists, as well as those who take a creative approach within the worlds of tech and business.
